I dunno about television history, but it’s definitely right up there in my personal top 5.* 

I totally didn’t know about it going in, either. I was so, so shocked that they went there. 

. 

*In no particular order: 

• Not Penny’s Boat
• Being Human series 3 finale. ZOMG BUCKETS
• Primeval 3x03 (2x07 is also up there)
• The final five episodes of BSG. They were flawed, but still totally broke my brain. 
• And probably half a dozen episodes of Fringe, particularly White Tulip

I suspect most of these will be trumped when Game of Thrones gets to the Red Wedding.

(Also: If Fringe starts going anywhere near Peter/Olivia/Lincoln? I will be ALL over that.)

I’m one of the dreaded few: A Sam/Kara shipper. Everyone and their toaster shipped her with Lee. Me? I saw her with Sam from the moment they met, and all the way to the end. I was thrilled when she “left” Lee in the finale.
